Army and Navy Academy has lost a member of its long grey line. General William Wright Crouch, USA, Retired, served as the Battalion Commander for the 1959 Corps of Cadets. After graduating from the Academy, his incredible career in the United States Army culminated in his appointment as the Vice Chief of Staff from 1997-1998. Starting in 2013, he served on the Academy's Board of Trustees and was its Vice Chairman.
Barry Shreiar, the current Chairman of the Board of Trustees, had this to say of our fallen Warrior:
"For those of us that knew Gen. Crouch you were gifted with his presence, his spirit, decency, and careful intellect. When you are in the presence of a great man you sense it like the intensity from a bright light. It commands your attention, and you are made better from the time you are there. This was every moment with General Crouch."
Today we celebrate the life of a devoted public servant who dedicated his life to this country, and who embodied the very best ideals for which the Academy stands: Honor, Integrity, Respect, Commitment, Gratitude, and Courage.
Cadet Jonah Tua was recently interviewed for a segment with KUSI's Prep Pigskin Report (PPR) about being an underdog student-athlete. We're looking forward to sharing his interview on our Facebook and Instagram channels once it is posted!
Warrior Water Polo has continued their strong season with a 20-10 win against Chula Vista Learning Community Charter on Tuesday. This was the Academy's first home water polo game in more than 6 years, and our team was greeted with a huge, energized cheering section. Huge thanks to ANAPA President Jon Schauer and Vice President (and "Team Dad") Brad Heaton, who served slushies and pizza to the delight of both teams.
During the month of September, our counseling team hosted the following college representatives on campus. These representatives speak to ANA Cadets about the admissions process and student life during lunch. If you are interested in attending any college visits in the future, please speak to your counselor about upcoming opportunities.

Spread the word! As we speed into enrollment season for the 2025-2026 school year, our Admission team is hosting exciting Meet and Greets across California and neighboring states. Tell your friends about our next event in Palos Verdes at the Terranea Resort on October 10th from 4PM-7PM. Current families and alums are welcomed and encouraged to join. This is a great opportunity to build the Academy community by sharing your stories with prospective Warrior families.
We have just released an exciting new video to our YouTube channel highlighting the Academy's exceptional middle school program. We offer a huge "thank you" to Cadets Hudson Moelke, Jackson Burke, Nam Nguyen, and Kayden Jansen, as well as TAC DB, Middle School Commandant Paul Nixon, Jessica Scherr, Amanda Miraco, and Ann Marie Castellano for their work with our marketing and video production teams.
HONOR MONTH
A Focus on Virtuous Development
In September, the Academy's faculty, TACs, and coaches focused on the value of "Honor" as part of our ongoing Warrior Virtue Program. We engaged Cadets in critical thinking and introspective discussions around the question: "What does honor mean to you?"
Together, we defined the meaning of "honor", examined its purpose in our lives, explored its various aspects, and reinforced the topic with a variety of learning activities. We also familiarized ourselves with the Honor Council, an institution dating back almost the founding of the Academy. Through Cadet-led presentations, we learned about the Council as a Cadet-led body that embodies and enforces the Cadet Honor Code:
"A Cadet will not lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate those who do."
These efforts aimed to foster responsibility, accountability, and preparedness for the roles society expects from men of character. October is Respect Month, and we look forward to exploring that critical value over the next several weeks.
Homecoming/Alumni Weekend is October 18-20th. We have many activities planned for parents, Cadets, and Alumni and are gathering a headcount of all who plan to be here.
Note - ANAPA is repeating their successful Oktoberfest on Saturday night and is encouraging all Academy parents and alumni to join them. Please register here. It is a paid event.
Join us for our 16th annual Veterans Day Military Review co-hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Carlsbad. This is a community event so bring your friends, and family and spread the word.
We will have a guest speaker, parade, guest veteran dignitaries, and a flyover of vintage aircraft.
