Welcome back to another edition of the Weekly Warrior newsletter. This week's issue contains news from current Cadets, alumni, an athletic update, and a preview (with a video link) of our summer leadership academy happening June 14 - 26, 2025.
Thank you for being part of the Warrior community!
Senior Cadet Lance Germani visited Carlsbad High School on Monday to help launch their student-produced video segment, Day in the Life of an ANA Cadet. Thank you to the ANA Cadets who supported this project; Jack Jaferian, Boden Krupp, Andrew Pedersen, Ezekiel Garrett and Lance Germani! It was an excellent collaboration between our two schools, and we are grateful to the talented CHS TV team led by instructor Doug Greene and broadcast journalists Reece Benson and Madison Mulligan for their stellar work.
Meet the Young Entrepreneurs Club! Our Cadets are turning ideas into action. This semester, they revamped the campus vending machine program and turned it into a team competition to see which team's machine would generate the most revenue. Sales receipts will be tallied monthly, and the team that generated the most revenue at the end of the year will win a prize! In addition, half of the revenues will go to fund future club activities. The other half will go back to the school. After choosing what they hope to be the most popular snacks, the team representatives made their first Costco run this week!
From concept to execution, they’re learning what it takes to succeed in business—and having fun along the way. We’re so proud of their initiative, teamwork, and creativity. Stay tuned for updates on their entrepreneurial journey!
Warrior Athletics would like to congratulate Sr. Wyatt Shigley on medaling at the Jon Londes tournament this past weekend.
Warriors look to take a few more medals this weekend at Mayhem on the Mountain at Mt. Empire High School. Next week the Warriors will be hosting another tri-match with, Coastal Academy and Tri-City Christian on January 22nd at 5:00 pm.
Basketball is looking to make a mark Friday night January 17 as they take on St. Joseph's at 7:00 pm. Our JV team will be traveling to Pacific Ridge for a game at 4:00 pm.
We need your support at our HOME games! Take a look at the Athletics schedules on the website here, and mark your calendars for when you will be in the stands to cheer us on! Watch HOME games on our Hudll live-stream channel here.
Wednesday, we had the pleasure of a visit from class of 1965 alumnus Mike McCarthy and his wife Tony. Mike was visiting campus for a special assembly organized by ANA's Counseling Department titled At the Table with Dr King. Mike's daughter organizes these performances around the world and we were fortunate to have them on campus this past Wednesday, January 15, ahead of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
For more than 114 years, Army and Navy Academy has built a community where lifelong friendships are made, and leaders are forged. During our October 2024 Homecoming/Alumni Weekend, we took the opportunity to record several alumni as they reflected on their time at the Academy. In this video, we hear Rob Swindle (Class of 1975) share one of his fondest memories and the lessons he carried with him from ANA.
Thank you to Rob Campbell (class of 1972), Jeff Free (class of 1974), Robert Swindle (class of 1975), and Gerardo Antonio Jr (class of 1984) for your collaboration on this project. Look for videos featuring these gentlemen in future Weekly Warriors.
