Hello Warrior Families and Supporters,

We are almost at the end of our first full week of classes.  Despite the Labor Day holiday celebration on Monday, teachers do expect to see the smiling faces of all Cadets in class tomorrow (Friday).    Our Fall sports teams have been grinding it out on the fields, ice, trails, and in the pool.  A full update can be found under the Athletics section of this newsletter.  You can view and purchase team pictures and select 2024-2025 game coverage captured by MijaresPhoto here. If your Cadet likes to head home for the weekend, please remember that the weekend return time is always Sunday at 8 pm latest.  The Daily Schedule is attached here for easy reference.

Varsity Football opened the season with a 53-0 win against Rock Academy last week.  Take a look at game coverage pictures here.  JV will play their opening game tonight at 5 pm at HOME against Coastal Academy.  Come cheer us on in person or catch the LiveStream here on our YouTube channel.

Cross Country opened their season last Saturday at the Vaquera Stampede earning six medals.  They run again this Saturday at Canyon Crest Academy starting at 8 am. Since the school year began, the team has added 6 new members. 

Warrior Water Polo is another growing team and now has a roster of almost 30 players.  The team won their first game 20-16 against Escondido.  Tonight, they'll play against Mar Vista at Southwest High School. 

Warrior Hockey is proud to announce a significant expansion of its athletic offerings with the introduction of an expanded hockey program. This exciting development is made possible through a strategic partnership with Carlsbad Icetown. 

The Army and Navy Academy has a long-standing tradition of promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and discipline through its robust athletics program. With the addition of an expanded hockey program, the Academy continues to build on this tradition, offering its Cadets new opportunities to excel in a fast-paced, competitive sport that demands both physical and mental resilience. The decision to expand the hockey program is in line with the Academy's mission to provide a well-rounded education that includes a strong emphasis on character development, leadership, and teamwork. Hockey, with its emphasis on strategy, cooperation, and perseverance, is an ideal fit for the Academy's athletic philosophy.

What started last year as just a House League program with Carlsbad Icetown has now expanded so our Cadets can work their way up the ranks to join the Carlsbad United Hockey Club D3 Varsity and Junior Varsity programs.  Through hard work and determination from last season, we have five Cadets who have made the jump to the big club.

Central to the success of the Warrior hockey program is the partnership with Carlsbad Icetown. This facility, located just a short distance from the Army and Navy Academy campus, offers a world-class ice rink and professional coaching staff. The partnership allows Academy Cadets to train in a top-tier environment, benefiting from the expertise and resources that Carlsbad Icetown provides. In addition to on-ice training, the Warrior Hockey Team emphasizes off-ice conditioning, mental toughness, and leadership development. Cadets will participate in strength and conditioning programs here on campus tailored to the needs of hockey players, as well as team-building exercises designed to foster camaraderie and mutual respect.

The expanded hockey program, supported by its partnership with Carlsbad Icetown, is set to become a cornerstone of the Academy's athletic offerings, reflecting its ongoing commitment to excellence in all areas of education and personal development. On September 11, the Academy is hosting a Patriot Day Remembrance to honor first responders, veterans, and those who currently serve our great country.  Join Academy President, Major General Combs, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of our community for this special event. 

It's Beach Bash time!  Share the evening with your ANA Patrons Association (ANAPA) community during Back to School Weekend for Beach Bash 2024 on September 14.  Register early so you don't miss out!  Take a look at pictures from last year's event on our Flickr channel here.  

Our 2024 Coffee and Colors breakfast events are restarting on September 27.  This is an opportunity to start your morning with a patriotic heart.  Salute the flag and hear the Atkinson Warrior Band play alongside Academy President, MG Peggy Combs, faculty, and staff.  Breakfast refreshments will be provided.  No RSVP is required.
