We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Back to School Weekend. Our schedule of events is included below. Note that all events conclude Saturday night which allows for more time for family connections on Sunday. Remember to have your Cadet back on campus by 8 pm Sunday night.
While you are on campus this weekend, we invite you to take a look at some of our recent upgrades which include:
Miller Hall (formerly Building 300) received new windows, window blinds, and interior and exterior paint.
The 100 Classrooms received new acoustical ceilings, lighting, and window blinds.
Three rooms in Building 500 were converted back to classrooms due to the ever-expanding academic programs offered here at ANA and received new flooring, paint, and furniture. Pictured below are Curby Scarborough's middle school JROTC class and Lei Jin's 1, 2, 3, and AP Mandarin language classroom.
The mess hall flooring was also redone, along with new wall paint and acoustical treatments on the ceiling. New furniture for the mess hall is currently on order.
Upcoming projects include remodeling the library and converting it into the Academics Center, remodeling Anderson Hall dormitories, and creating a new athletic lounge upstairs in Duffield named in honor of Caleb Stricker called Lounge 51 (pictured below). As new projects are completed, we will post pictures in the Weekly Warrior and on social media.
ANA weekends are full of scheduled fun which includes nighttime zombie tag and morning surf trips. Sign up for September activities here.
Congrats to our Water Polo team on another convincing win yesterday against Southwest SD. Their record now stands at 5-1 heading into Thursday's matchup with Hilltop at 4 pm. The match will be at Parkway Pool. ANAPA VP and Water Polo's #1 Fan, Brad Heaton, has been posting practice and game coverage to the ANAPA Facebook page here.
It was another great outing this past week for our Warrior Cross country team, bettering their times from the previous week at the Rohr Park Invitational.
This past Friday, the varsity football team honored their fallen teammate Caleb Stricker, retired his jersey and presented his uniforms to his family before the game. The event didn't stop there with the Warriors beating Escondido Charter 29-0 in front of an amazing home crowd. Warrior football heads into the week with a JV game on Thursday at 5 p.m. vs. Canyon Hills and Varsity plays away on Friday at Canyon Hills at 7 pm.
Warrior Hockey has another busy week as well. Our United JV team plays Saturday vs La Jolla Country Day at 7:45 pm at Icetown. The Warrior house league team plays on Sunday at 5:30 pm. Our opponent is TBD.
Team and player photos for JV Football, Cross Country, and Water Polo have been posted here. Also, check out two Cross Country meets (@CCA and @El Capitan) and Varsity Football (vs Rock Academy) through this link. Varsity Football team pictures will be scheduled soon.
Army and Navy Academy sent our Color Guard team to Rancho Santa Fe School District's Elementary and Middle Schools on Wednesday, September 11. The Color Guard was led by C/CSM Kelly McKinley with C/MAJ Lance Germani, C/CPT Chuangi Liu, C/2LT Amgalan Munkhbaatar, and C/SGT Stefan Gajic. The children enjoyed the ceremony and were very impressed with our Cadets.
The deadline to register for Beach Bash is Thursday, September 12 at midnight. Take a look at pictures from last year's event on our Flickr channel here. Cadets, patrons, faculty, and staff are all encouraged to attend.
Our 2024 Coffee and Colors breakfast events are restarting on September 27. This is an opportunity to start your morning with a patriotic heart. Salute the flag and hear the Atkinson Warrior Band play alongside Academy President, MG Peggy Combs, faculty, and staff. Breakfast refreshments will be provided. No RSVP is required.
